Warner Bros. Gangster Collection Vol. 3 Shoots Its Way to DVD on March 11th

Home Media Magazine is reporting that Warner Brothers are continuing their Gangster Collection line with a third volume, due out on March 11. The set includes six movies from the 30s and 40s that have never been released on DVD before. The films are Picture Snatcher, Lady Killer, Smart Money, Black Legion, The Mayor of Hell and Brother Orchid. The films will also be available in single titles.

Picture Snatcher
Ex-convict Danny Kean (James Cagney) decides to become honest as a photographer for a paper. He falls in love with Patricia, the daughter of the policeman who arrested him. Mr Nolan, her father doesn't like that relation first, but Kean's boss McLean convinces him of Kean's good nature. But Kean uses his relation to Patricia to make a photo of an execution. Due to this Nolan looses his stipes and Kean isn't allowed to see Patricia any longer. But when one of his former friends kills two policemen, Kean sees his chance....

Lady Killer
When a movie theater usher (James Cagney) is fired, he takes up with criminals and finds himself quite adept at various illegal activities. Eventually though, the police catch up with him, and he runs to hide out in Los Angeles. There he stumbles into the movie business and soon rises to stardom. He has gone straight, but his newfound success arouses the interest of his old criminal associates, who are not above blackmail...

Smart Money
Nick Venizelos (Edward G. Robinson) is a barber with a passion for gambling. His buddies put together $10,000 for him to gamble with against the syndicate. He gets cleaned out through a crooked game and vows revenge. After that he takes over. James Cagney also stars.

Black Leigon
Frank Taylor (Humphrey Bogart) joins the "pro-American" Black Legion when he loses his chance at foremanship to a foreign-born man. The organization is a sort of Ku Klux Klan in the industrial sphere. Frank has troubles with his wife over this and causes serious trouble when he tells all to his best friend Ed Jackson.

The Mayor of Hell
Five members of a teen-age gang, including leader Jimmy Smith, are sent to the State Reformatory, presided over by the melodramatically callous Thompson. Soon, Patsy Gargan (James Cagney), a former gangster appointed Deputy Commissioner as a political favor, arrives complete with hip flask and blonde. Gargan falls for activist nurse Dorothy and, inspired by her, takes over the administration to run the place on radical principles. But Thompson, to conceal his years of graft, needs a quick way to discredit Gargan...

Brother Orchid
Racket Boss John Sarto (Edward G. Robinson), tired of gang violence, quits and goes to Europe for "culture." His fortune soon dissipated by European swindlers, he returns to the old mob; but new boss Jack Burns (Humphrey Bogart) finds him strictly superfluous. Narrowly escaping being rubbed out, Sarto is taken in by the monastery of the "Little Brothers of the Flower." His unique talents prove very useful to the monks...especially when Sarto's old mob forces them out of the flower market.
