The Rocket Post in March

Lions Gate Home Entertainment have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of The Rocket Post for 12th March 2007 priced at £15.99. Hidden away amongst the Western Isles of Scotland is the remote but beautiful island of Scarp, inhabited by a handful of people living a quiet existence. Divorced from a world of political unrest in the 1930s, the last thing the islanders want or expect is a visit from a German rocket scientist…

The Rocket Post tells the fascinating true story of an idealistic and dashing German scientist, Gerhard Zucher (played by Danish actor Ulrich Thomsen) who tries to revolutionise the Western Isles postal service by sending mail in a rocket between the inaccessible islands.

Winner of the Festival Grand Prize at the Stony Brook Film Festival, this simple but touching story explores the relationship between Zucher and a community not used to change that’s further complicated when the mistrusted foreigner falls in love with the beautiful local schoolteacher, Catherine MacKay (Shuana MacDonald).

A barebones release the film is presented in anamorphic widescreen with English DD5.1 Surround audio and optional English subtitles.
