Mildred Pierce namely a five-part miniseries that the outset wound on HBO on March 27, 2011. Adapted from James M. Cain's 1941 novel of the same appoint,[1] it was directed at Todd Haynes and stars Kate Winslet in the heading role, beside Guy Pearce and Evan Rachel Wood.[1] Carter Burwell wrote the original score for the series.

It is the second adaptation of the novel, after the 1945 film noir produced by Warner Bros. starring Joan Crawford.

Mildred Pierce follows an over protective,Weston woods story books, ego sacrificing mother who, during the Great Depression, finds herself separated from her husband, prologue a cafeteria of her own, and falling in love with a fashionable man, always the while trying to earn her narcissistic daughter's love and esteem.

The contrive of the mini-series follows Cain's elemental anecdote, yet dispenses with the murder contrive line namely was created because the membrane with Crawford.

Mildred Pierce received generally rewarding reviews. Metacritic assigned the series an mean score of 69/100 based on 28 reviews from mainstream critics.[3] Salon.com cried it a "quiet, heartbreaking masterpiece",[4] while The New York Times commented that the miniseries "loyally, unwaveringly true apt James M. Cain’s 1941 novel", did not "make the most of the mythic impact of mama, lover and ungrateful child", and was "nowhere near as satisfying as the 1945 film noir".[5] Novelist Stephen King, reiterating Mildred Pierce for The Daily Beast and Newsweek, praised the deeding of Winslet, Pearce, and Wood and appreciated the show's consideration to elaborate and framework,[6] but complained that the five-hour adaptation was "also curse long".[7]
