Spartacus and White Collar Renewed

If you're a fan of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, good news – it's been renewed for a second season!

Oh, wait… you haven't seen Spartacus: Blood and Sand. No one has, since it doesn't debut until January 22nd. Renewing a brand new series before the first season has aired is highly unusual, for understandable reasons, since a network has no idea what the audience response (and ratings) will be. It did happen in this past year, when FOX renewed The Cleveland Show before it began airing, but there you had a spinoff of a proven success in Family Guy.

Starz, who is airing Spartacus, has aggressively been entering into the scripted series arena, with shows like Crash and Party Down. Produced by Sam Raimi, and featuring Lucy Lawless among the cast, Spartacus is the cable channel's most ambitious project yet.

The Hollywood Reporter says the second season will be titled Spartacus: Vengeance. MacGyver Seasons 1-7 DVD Boxset

Also renewed for a second season is USA's White Collar. The news was broken by creator Jeff Eastin on Twitter. Of course the big difference there is viewers have actually seen White Collar.
