Scrubs Season Ending Next Month?

Scrubs: Season 9 may have only begun airing at the beginning of December, but it now looks like the season will be over by the end of January.

TheFutonCritic.com noted that when ABC released their January schedule, it quietly revealed that they will be running two new episodes each Tuesday of both Scrubs and Better Off Ted, beginning January 5th.

This comes on the heels of the network scheduling new episodes of both series on Friday, January 1st. Both Scrubs and Ted only had thirteen episode orders in the first place for this season, and were notably brought back during a quiet time – it's rare for a network to give a season premiere to a show in December.

While the plan from the start seemed to be to air these series in the interim before big ABC shows like Dancing with the Stars and Lost return in February, the ratings for both Scrubs and Better Off Ted  have been notably weak. The decision to double up the episodes in January for both series seem to indicate the network is just burning off the seasons at this point and certainly make it unlikely either will be renewed again.
