American Film Institute Honors Hangover, Mad Men, Glee

The Hangover, The Hurt Locker, Mad Men and Glee are among the honorees on the American Film Institute's lists of top 10 movies and TV shows of 2009.The Perfectionist: Matthew Weiner turns the world Mad.Other TV shows the AFI cited: The Big Bang Theory, Big Love, Friday Night Lights, Modern Family, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Nurse Jackie, Party Down and True Blood.Big-screen honors also went to Coraline, The Messenger, Precious, A Serious Man, A Single Man, Sugar, Up and Up in the Air.Several of AFI's movie picks also coincided with the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's yearly selections, including The Hurt Locker for best picture and director (Kathryn Bigelow) and Up In the Air for screenplay (Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner).Also making the L.A. critics' list was Fantastic Mr. Fox for best animation and District 9 for production design. The French drama Summer Hours was named best foreign film.New York film critics also chose The Hurt Locker for best picture and director, Fantastic Mr. Fox for best animation and Summer Hours for foreign film. Best screenplay went to In the Loop, a war comedy starring James Gandolfini.
