Little House on the Prairie - Blu-ray Release for 'Season 8: Deluxe Remastered Edition'

As longtime readers know, when Lionsgate issued the press release last summer about the Season 7: Deluxe Remastered Edition, it was for DVD only...they were stopping in-store releases of the Blu-ray Disc editions due to lower-than-expected sales for the format (not entirely unexpected, as some big chains - like Walmart - had decided from the start to not to carry the Blu versions in their stores). The studio was so set on this course, that they decided to release The Complete Collection on DVD at the same time, so it could be available in collectible packaging for Christmas gift-giving.

Afterward, feedback from passionate fans who had collected the Blu-ray versions thus far was SO great that when Lionsgate announced the Season 8: Deluxe Remastered Edition DVD sets for in-store availability, they also said at that time that they would make Blu-ray versions of Season 7: Deluxe Remastered Edition available through MOD (manufacture on demand) programs, able to be bought via online sellers such as Amazon's CreateSpace. Fans were overjoyed at the news!

Our readers will be happy to know that a new Amazon pre-order listing has gone up for Season 8: Deluxe Remastered Edition on high-def Blu-ray Disc. Priced at just $29.99 SRP, it's a six-disc set with the episodes restored to their original broadcast length. The availability date isn't finalized yet; the Amazon entry says only that, "This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives."
