Our most recent news about Game of Thrones - The Complete 5th Season was posted in mid- October, with HBO sending over official package art for the DVD and Blu-ray Disc versions of the title (seen again below). By that time there was no word about which special features would be included on the set, and that we'd have to wait for HBO to provide that info.

A week ago today, HBO exclusively gave the IGN website a first peek at ONE of the extras on this upcoming title. Their headline says it best: it's a "First Look at Game of Thrones: The Dance of Dragons Animated Feature: An animated look back in time at the great Targaryen civil war."

It's described there as a 20-minute feature that consists of a voice cast of mostly previously-on-Game-of-Thrones cast members: Pedro Pascal ("Oberyn Martell") narrates, and other voices include those of Kerry Ingram ("Shireen Barathon"), Harry Lloyd ("Viserys Targaryen"), Mark Addy ("Robert Baratheon"), Michelle Fairley ("Catelyn Stark"), and Jack Gleeson ("Joffrey Baratheon"). Remember, though, that these people are mostly likely playing new roles in this bonus feature, and not the roles they previously played in the main episodes. IGN says this about the event shown in the feature:
The Dance of Dragons was a war of succession over who would inherit the Iron Throne after the death of Viserys I. George R.R. Martin wrote the origins of the event in his novella "The Princess and the Queen," which was released in the anthology Dangerous Women. A complete history of the event is planned for Fire and Blood, Martin's upcoming complete history of House Targaryen.
