Future Cop - 'The Complete Series' of the Mid-'70s Show Pre-Dating 'RoboCop'

The Cop of the Future is Here...Programmed for Fun and Action! Ernest Borgnine (TV's McHale's Navy) stars with John Amos (Die Hard 2, TV's Good Times) as two street-smart cops who have been assigned a new rookie partner, Haven. But Officer Haven (Michael Shannon, TV's We'll Meet Again) has a secret. He looks human, talks and acts human. But he's not.
He's an android with superior intellect, and super strength. He's the perfect cop, the cop of the future! It'll be action-packed adventure as they hit the streets of L.A. to protect and serve. But with a cop killer on the loose, and a billion dollar robot for a partner, retirement is just a bullet away. All Episodes, Including the Original Pilot Movies!
Mill Creek Entertainment has announced today that they will release Future Cop - The Complete Series on DVD. The show aired a decade before RoboCop hit theaters, and with much the same premise. Beat cops (and acting legends) Ernest Borgnine and John Amos team up with Michael Shannon, the Future Cop called "Haven."
The original pilot telefilm aired in 1976, and then in '77 ABC aired six episodes (including a two-part story, with both parts debuting back-to-back the same night) before cancelling the show. An eighth story was produced as a telefilm, airing on NBC in 1978 as a sort-of "pilot" to try to get the show back on the air with a new network, but it didn't get picked up by the peacock.
However, Mill Creek is bringing together all 8 installments onto a 2-disc set priced at just $14.98 SRP. It will be available on March 1st, and you should look for appearances by Joan Collins and Francine York in a couple of the episodes! Our thanks to reader Anthony Huben for his help with this story.
