Sherlock - 'The Abominable Bride,' the New Year's Special, on Blu-ray and DVD

Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game) and Martin Freeman (The Hobbit) return as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in the acclaimed modern retelling of Arthur Conan Doyle's classic stories. But now, our heroes find themselves in 1890s London, in Sherlock: The Abominable Bride, a 90-minute special.
Once again, Sherlock Holmes and John Watson are tasked with solving another impossible crime...this time in Victorian England! Beloved characters Mary Morstan (played by Amanda Abbington), Inspector Lestrade (Rupert Graves) and Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs) also turn up at 221b Baker Street.
This coming January 1st, PBS will air Sherlock - The Abominable Bride, a new 90-minute special in the Sherlock series produced by the BBC, Hartswood Films, WGBH, and Masterpiece. On January 5th and 6th, the special will be shown in a limited selection of theaters across the USA, and then PBS will air it as an encore performance on January 10th.
Then, on January 12th, PBS will release Sherlock - The Abominable Bride on both DVD ($22.99 SRP) and high-def Blu-ray Disc ($29.99 SRP). Both versions will come with English SDH subtitles. No other details are available yet, nor package art. But the PBS/Masterpiece trailer for this special can be seen below.
The fourth season of Sherlock will begin filming in the spring of 2016, with an airdate yet to be decided. But while we wait, the folks behind the show hope that this New Year's Day special will give us a bit to enjoy. Check it out:
