Doctor Who - We Have a Possible North America Release Date for 'Story #032: The Underwater Menace'

Way back in February 2014, over a year-and-a-half ago, we posted an article saying that Doctor Who - Story #032: The Underwater Menace would get a DVD release, starring Patrick Troughton as the 2nd Doctor. The plan at the time was to have the long-available 3rd episode (previously released to DVD on the Lost In Time box set) paired with the newly-discovered 2nd episode, and bookend them with newly-recreated animations of the still-missing 1st and 4th episodes. We soon updated that story, however, with more recent word from a Doctor Who convention the previous weekend that "work on animation has been halted due to studio having other higher priority projects."
We brought you an update three months later, in late May 2014, to report that Doctor Who - Story #032: The Underwater Menace on DVD was apparently still in-the-works, because an www.odvdo.com pre-order listing had appeared for the title. It wasn't showing a street date, but it showed a $24.98 SRP price, let you lock in your copy right away at a discounted cost, and said that "You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." Things looked good...
...Until the following week, early in June 2014, when we passed along word from Steve Roberts of the Doctor Who Restoration Team, who had said on Twitter that "we don't have a clue what's going on with [The Underwater Menace] now. From where we're standing, it's looking like the range [of classic Doctor Who DVD releases] is dead."
Then in December 2014 we posted a story saying the title was alive again. Then in April 2015 we updated that story saying it was dead again. Then in September 2015 we posted official word that it was alive again...with a formal announcement of a U.K. release for the title. And three weeks ago today, on Monday Oct. 26th, Doctor Who - Story #032: The Underwater Menace came out on DVD in the United Kingdom (the missing Episodes 1 and 4 being presented using photographic stills, and a restored audio soundtrack). But what about this same item for North America?
BBC Home Entertainment has NOT officially announced this yet, nor has their distributor, Warner Home Video. We don't know how solid this info is, or if it's finalized yet. But this morning we received word from our trusted sources up north, in the Canadian home video retail industry, that BBC/Warner will release Doctor Who - Story #032: The Underwater Menace for DVD in Canada and the USA on January 19th. Package art, pricing, and details (including whether or not the same extras on the U.K. release will be included for USA/Canada) were not available today. But stay tuned, and we'll let you know as further updates come in for this long-awaited classic title!
