Previously we've shown off package art for the December 8th release from Fox Home Entertainment of The X-Files - Collector's Box Set: The Original Seasons 1-9 on high-def Blu-ray Disc. Now starebayer.com has set up pre-order listings for the big box set, as well as for all 9 separate season sets on Blu, for you to lock in your copies.
Those listings also have high-resolution images of the individual packages for the season sets, and we've got all nine of them for you below. But first, here's a list of each upcoming X-Files titles, and links to order your copies from either the USA's starebayer.com ($29.99 SRP for each season set, or $299.99 SRP for the Collector's Box Set) or from starebayer.com for the big collection. Our thanks to reader Alan Fraser for his help with this!
Word going around is that the Collector's Box Set will NOT have the two X-Files theatrical films in them, but that instead there will be an empty space set aside for fans to eventually buy Blu-rays of the upcoming 6-epiosde X-Files revival mini-series that airs near the end of January (see trailers at bottom), and keep that item inside the Collector's Box Set along with the previous nine seasons. Interesting
However, there's NO official word yet about whether the episodes on The Original Seasons 1-9 Blu-ray Discs will be the original 1.33:1 aspect ratio as broadcast from 1993-2002, or whether they will instead be widescreen. However, it's important to note that the high-def presentations of these same episodes on digital streaming services are in widescreen aspect ratio (and in a manner that much of the time slightly crops the tops and bottoms of the original picture BUT ALSO which opens up more picture on the left and right sides of the image). It's rather likely that this is what will be on the Blu-ray Discs, but the studio hasn't informed us for certain yet either way. Stay tuned, of course, and we'll let you know as soon as we find out!
