 How I Met Your Mother has received positive reviews throughout most of its run and has gained a cult following over the years. How I Met Your Mother was inspired by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas' idea to write about our Friends and the stupid stuff we did in New York, where they previously worked as writers for Late Show with David Letterman, among others.

 Ted Mosby, an architecture teacher and the central character of the series. Ted moved to New York City with his Friends Marshall and Lily after graduating from Wesleyan University. In New York he met Barney and Robin, who became part of the group. Ted is on a quest for happiness and The One, the woman he will marry. Ted is the most mature of the group, preferring more elegant and high class interests than the ones his Friends possess. He goes to great lengths to profess his love to the women in his life, but they all falter after a while.
